Jamie Ryder earned a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University in 2006. She is an experienced counselor, educator, and group leader and works as a School Counselor in the suburbs of Atlanta. Jamie is mom to two young boys and, alongside her husband Matt, she strives to create and maintain a simple, rhythmic, and connected home.
As a counselor, Jamie has learned that children are highly impacted by their environment. A chaotic and unpredictable classroom or home environment can increase a child’s stress level, causing them to behave in disrespectful, disruptive, or withdrawn ways. Yet a predictable and connected classroom or home environment can decrease stress and lead to calmer, more contented children. And as a parent in her work simplifying her home, Jamie has realized the magnificent space that simplification creates which can be filled by the joyous play of her children and sacred moments of togetherness for her entire family.
Jamie leads Simplicity Parenting Groups as a way to help the parents and children in her community lead more fulfilling and less stressful lives and learn how to connect with each other in more meaningful ways. Please contact Jamie or follow the link to her blog for more information.
