Arlene’s background is as a Waldorf and public school educator and mentor (34 years).
She now mentors and supervises student teachers and offers parent and life coaching. She leads Simplicity Parenting Groups and subsequent parent coaching in the Chicago area.

Susan has been teaching parent-child and nursery classes at the Chicago Waldorf School since 2001. She brings joy, warmth and reverence to her work with these young children and their parents. In working with parents through the years, Susan has seen that parenting young children is challenging for parents and she tries to offer them tools to support them in their journey. Simplicity Parenting is an important part of her support work.

Susan received her Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and then went on to get a Juris Doctor degree, both from the University of Illinois. She became a lawyer because she wanted to make a difference in peoples lives. After working as a Legal Assistance attorney, Susan came to believe that to really make a difference, we have to begin with the children. And so, after a few years as a working artist, she completed Waldorf Teacher Training and became an Early Childhood teacher. Susan enjoys working with parents and has been working with Kim Payne’s ideas about Simplicity Parenting for several years. She became a Simplicity Parenting coach in 2010.
Susan is the mother of two teenage daughters, daughters, who have been her best teachers.
