About: Kia ora , I am passionate about everyone's potential for growth and development; everyone to be able to accept and love themselves as perfectly imperfect human beings. My journey started growing up in Finland and I have as an adult lived most of my life in New Zealand. Through many life experiences, education and self development I have vast amount of compassion and desire to support families and teachers on their individual unique journeys. My background is in nearly 30 years of teaching, mainly as a Waldorf kindergarten teacher. After 7 years in NZ I got married and received instant blended family with three children between ages 8-12yrs. I have two beautiful sensitive neurodivergent biological children, I went through postnatal depression with the first one, had miscarriage before the second one when I also was facing some fertility issues, we had massive earthquakes in Christchurch on my daughter's 6th birthday, my son and I had a very traumatic birthing experience, I have elderly mum and most of my biological extended family is in Finland and I have recently separating after 22 years. All those experiences and more has deepened my passion for supporting parents and teachers to be free to be themselves, so they can be present, connect, support and guide the children in their care. Any parent or educator could agree that the children are often our biggest teachers. So has all the children I have worked with, my bonus children, my biological children and my own inner child been the biggest catalysts for me to keep learning and growing. I could have not done that without lots of support. My work is based on the desire to give back what I have learned to be priceless and supportive. I am so grateful that Simplicity parenting is part of that "tool box". I wish I had known what I know now already when I was pregnant. It is actually so helpful to seek the support as early as possible to give the best start for your family life. You don't need to feel alone in midst of all the challenges, more and more children are asking us adults step up with compassion, big hearts to guide them so they can be children first; seen, heard and valued so they can grow into adults who know their worth and can know what is important to them and follow their passions. I am fortunate now to have my own practice called Reconnections at Te Ara Sophia centre next to Christchurch Rudolf Steiner School. I am also available for working in educational settings, in your home or online. I offer family guidance, parent & teacher mentoring and coaching, play therapy and parent education. I also occasionally do relief teaching to keep myself present to how things are for the children, parents and the teachers. I look forward meeting you in person or online if you are wanting to connect.
